Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU) in Burdur made significant contacts in the United States to strengthen international cooperation in the field of animal husbandry. Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar and the Director of the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Research Application and Research Center (UAM), Dr. Lecturer İlktan Baştan, took important steps with their visits to Prairie View University and ST Genetics Biotechnology companies.

At Prairie View University in Texas, meetings were held with the university's director, Prof. Dr. Erdogan Memili. In the meetings, information was obtained about the studies carried out in the university and the field of animal husbandry, and it was agreed to take the necessary steps for the education of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers at Prairie View University. A preliminary agreement was reached for cooperation in joint goat research projects and diagnostic kit development projects with Prof. Dr. Memili, who is also the Director of the International Goat Research Center.

ST Genetics Biotechnology company was also one of the important places visited. The company, which is a pioneer in genomic selection and cattle embryo production, provided information about the current embryo and sex-determined sperm production they carried out in breeding animals with high genetic value (3000 and above TPI). As a result of the meetings held with Research Coordinator Pablo Ross, a preliminary agreement was reached for international project and training cooperation with MAKU. In this context, it is planned to increase the genetic potential of donor animals in the MAKU farm and to supply embryos of higher breeding value to the region.

These visits stand out as important steps taken in line with MAKU's goal of strengthening international cooperation in the field of animal husbandry. MAKU aims to make significant contributions both academically and practically with such collaborations.
